Esprit is the official model horse of the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games in Lexington, Kentucky, September 25-October 10. Breyer commissioned one of collectors' favorite sculptors, Kathleen Moody, to create a sculpture to symbolize the spirit of the horses competing in eight different disciplines (such as dressage, reining, and jumping).
Here are my impressions of the production model vs. the publicity photos:
The model is 9" tall from hoof to eartip. He doesn't have a lot of shading. His color is a pearl, silvery grey with a LOT of dappling. The photo makes it appear the 3 legs without the white sock/shell hoof have an almost white color in the coronet/fetlock area. In fact, that area is the same grey color as the rest of his body. He carries the logo of the World Games on his belly in black. The logo is a stylized horse head with "Alltech FEI, World Ewuestrian Games, Kentucky 2010" underneath it. The model balances on 2 legs and his very long tail. It is a very pretty shelf piece that collectors will continue to enjoy in a variety of colors for years to come!
I'm sold out. They seem to be perpetually on backorder.
